The
Hancock County Humane Society was founded in 1976
to promote animal welfare.
We
are a non-profit organization dedicated to the health
and well being of all animals in need. The society strives
to prevent cruelty to animals and to reduce pet overpopulation
by:
*
Educating the public regarding humane treatment of
animals
*
Promoting responsible pet ownership
*
Encouraging the spaying and neutering of companion
animals
We
are a volunteer supported, nonprofit, charitable organization
supported entirely by donations. We receive no government
funds. We rely solely on your donations and on our
volunteers who donate their time and energy.
The
philosophy of the Hancock County Humane Society is
to promote the health and well being of the pet and
animal population through a humane and effective spay/neuter
program in order to end the senseless killing of unwanted
animals.
We
envision a society in which euthanizing healthy animals
is unacceptable. We believe that animals have feelings
and deserve respect. Any animal that we rescue is
treated in this manner with a determination and willingness
from us to make sure they have a healthy and happy
life in a loving home.
Adopting a Friend
Hancock
County Humane Society operates no shelter facility.
Healthy, adoptable animals that come into our care
stay in foster homes until a suitable permanent home
can be found. HCHS charges $40 for cat adoptions and
$50 for dog adoptions. For those animals that have
not been altered, we provide vouchers for low-cost
spay or neutering.
